Artist Statement

I use a collage approach for all my 2- and 3-dimensional and audio work, to re-interpret the world, reflecting on social inequality, denouncing oppressive norms and highlighting minorities in polished compositions. I collect diverse materials, which form the vocabulary of my work. I express myself using 2 or 3 well-chosen elements for my geometric, contained compositions.

My artwork has evolved into architecturally-inspired, 3d compositions. I am excited to continue working on my composition series, casting the street directly, as in the piece presented here, collaborating with the workers who helped me source the asphalt. My art reflects me: I recognize myself in the finished piece. My goal is to amplify my compositions by scaling them up, for them to become public art; to be louder.
